I recently went for a wild swim in the River Wye and took it as an idea for a next lino cut. I decided to do another mono print to keep the cost down and avoid the need to set up any registration for accuracy. Mono prints are a way to just have fun and to focus on enjoying creating your idea.

1. Coffee and pastry an important part of the doodling ideas stage.
2. after sketching out ideas to fit my piece of lino, I copied onto tracing paper with a nice soft lead, and burnished it onto the lino as my guide.
3. I’ve tweaked with elements of the original idea whilst gouging my lino, trying to work it out better for the print process. This should all worked out at the start ideally, however I think its sometimes more important just to get working an idea than get hung up in the planning.
4. first print, I often find the inked lino looks just as interesting as the finished piece.
5. next print I’ve used two colours onto the one roller to get this vibrant result, this is a good way on a mono print to get very colourful!
