Hi, I’m Emily a Dean Forest dweller and this is my block printing journal.
I recently moved to the Forest of Dean from West London and having spent a few years dabbling in different types of intaglio and relief printing I decided to focus properly on lino cuts. Why? Because this is the most accessible, fun & budget friendly form of home printing.
I’m a graphic designer by trade, but as my craft becomes increasingly more of a digital role I find myself still keeping to my print roots, although tellingly it’s becoming perceived as more of an an art form than a graphics skill. Print for me though will always hold a fascination for it’s historical aspect as a communication tool.
I’m a huge believer in arts & crafts being a great way to enjoy spare time and think it should be an accessible part of normal life for most people, but with busy lives and little time to indulge our need for simple creativity and exercise it’s little wonder many don’t get to do either. I think everyone should feel entitled and confident to do different arts & crafts.
Art is for everyone not just artists!
